Thank you for celebrating with us,  !

BAUR was founded 80 years ago. We have experienced a lot since 1945: We have developed products, tapped into markets, mastered challenges, and made history together with our partners, employees, and customers.

To mark our anniversary, we would like to take you on a journey through eight eventful decades. We have compiled eight interesting facts for you: Some are surprising, others make us proud – and all of them are part of our company history.

Come with us on this journey through the world of BAUR!

Did you know that...

... our founder Josef Baur was already thinking about starting his own business in his home country during the Second World War? At the time, he was working for Telefunken in Berlin. In preparation, he traded homemade schnapps for tools, machines, and materials, which he smuggled to Sulz.
… Josef Baur would become impatient when he saw products ready and waiting to be dispatched? To avoid arguments and to ensure that the products were prepared correctly for dispatch, such boxes were simply hidden from him.
... although he hadn't hired a stand, Josef Baur went to the "Deutsche Industrie-Messe" (German Industrial Fair) in Hanover in 1945 in order to demonstrate his PGK 35 cable test device at the event? Cologne-based Felten & Guilleaume gave him a spot at their stand. The flashes and bangs during his demonstration attracted the attention of visitors, who crowded around the device, while the Siemens stand opposite was left empty.
… power utilities save up to €375,000 when they replace only the defective 500 metres of cable instead of 3,000 metres in the event of a cable fault?
... in the winding room at BAUR, sometimes 50,310 windings are wound around a coil in a single day, which will later generate high voltage in the transformers of BAUR devices?
... our devices last a lifetime? In 2023, we calibrated an HSG15/135 high-voltage generator that was already 50 years old at the time – but still worked perfectly!
… our first device wasn't a cable measuring device, but a mine detector? Immediately after the Second World War, Josef Baur developed a highly sensitive device for detecting mines. His first customer was the city of Vienna.
… despite the international focus of BAUR, our headquarters are still located in the tranquil town of Sulz in Austria? Our devices and test vans are mainly produced here – with a direct view of the mountains.
