The myth of calibration

5 myths – and what is really true

Dear ,

There are many misconceptions surrounding calibration – from you only need to do it after repairs to you don't actually need to do it at all. But when it comes to high-voltage measurements, accuracy is crucial.

As an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration laboratory, we provide clarity – we dispel the 5 most common myths and give you the facts:
Myth 1: All calibrations are the same – wherever they're done
Only an accredited laboratory such as BAUR works with recognised procedures, regularly checked devices, and trained specialist personnel. The result: reliable, internationally recognised calibration certificates that can even support you in the event of an audit.
Myth 2: We can calibrate internally
Accredited calibration may only be performed by an accredited laboratory. At BAUR, calibration is performed separately from the manufacturer's premises – using objective procedures, documented traceability, and international standards.
Myth 3: Calibrations are only necessary after repairs
Regular calibration helps to detect deviations at an early stage. This prevents unplanned downtime and ensures your quality standards are maintained.
Myth 4: Device outside the tolerance range? Then it has to be replaced
Not with BAUR! If your device is outside the tolerance range during calibration, we offer adjustment followed by recalibration. This provides you with a fully functional device with a valid calibration certificate – quickly and economically.
Myth 5: Calibration only costs time and money
What really gets expensive: incorrect measurements, unnecessary repairs, and project delays. Calibration reduces risks, provides clear evidence, and saves time and money in the long run.
